About This Campaign
The 2022–2024 drought was the worst in 40 years. Across Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa counties, pastoralist families watched their life savings die:
1. Over 2.5 million livestock perished in northern Kenya
2. Families lost 80–90% of their goats, sheep, and cattle
3. Without livestock, there is no milk, no meat, no income, no bride price — no future
Many families now survive on a single meal of maize porridge per day. Children have dropped out of school to beg or fetch water for neighbors for $0.50 a day.
But there is hope.
Drought‑resilient livestock — goats and camels — can survive on thorny bushes, walk long distances to water, and produce milk even in dry conditions.
